RETROFOLIO™ 1.0

RINGTONE ASSET MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

RetroFolio™ 1.0 is a ringtone management system for producers, content aggregators, copyright owners and mobile operators. It provides a central storage location for your ringtone content in all formats, providing easy management and categorization in a secure Web-based environment.

As the ringtone industry gathers momentum, companies are increasingly finding they face complex logistical problems relating to ringtone file formats, handset limitations, tight deadlines and publishing/rights issues. RetroFolio tackles many of these problems head-on and increases productivity while protecting your assets.

COLLABORATIVE INTERFACE

Sending ringtones along the production chain via FTP and email attachments is risky and very inefficient. Small errors take days to fix, and everybody ends up with multiple versions of a ringtone on their hard drive. But with your content centralized, all team members can work on projects collaboratively. Each contributor can focus on their individual responsibilities without fear of redundancy or overlap. In RetroFolio, MIDI composers, product managers, legal and technical staff share a common interface, with instant Web previews of ringtones in MP3 or WAV format. You can also add comments and suggestions, and share views with your colleagues.

    TESTING AND VALIDATION

RetroFolio supports more than fifty monophonic, polyphonic and ‘truetone’ formats including MIDI, SP-MIDI, SMAF, AWB, AMR, QCP and RMF. It also keeps a constantly updated matrix of specifications for over 234 current wireless handsets. Once your content is loaded, it is automatically validated against any list of handsets that you configure; working ringtones get a check mark, but likely errors are flagged. So, for example, if an SP-MIDI ringtone exceeds the memory limitations of a Nokia 3510, you’ll know about it right away.

    SEND RINGTONES TO YOUR HANDSET

When you’re ready to test a ringtone on your mobile phone, you can just type in your phone number and RetroFolio will transmit it wirelessly from the Web to your handset. Send Dialog

    DIRECT-TO-WAP™

RetroFolio can publish a complete WAP stack right from the Web using its innovative Direct-To-WAP™ feature. Organize your content into folders and sub-folders, then hit . A unique WAP URL is created, and you can send it to yourself as an SMS bookmark; then browse the menu and download any ringtone for testing. WAP Browser

    FAST BULK IMPORTS

RetroFolio can do rapid bulk imports of an existing ringtone archive, along with its metadata in CSV format. This allows you to associate the output from your current database with ringtone files in all formats. Place all the ringtones and a corresponding CSV file (easily output from programs such as MS Excel) into a folder or ZIP archive, and RetroFolio will create separate items for each ringtone, grouping multiple formats together into one ‘product.’

    AUTOMATED EXPORTS

When you’re ready to deliver a project to a B2B customer, select an export format such as XML, XSL (Excel) or CSV, and pick which fields you want to export; for regular customers you can configure an ‘Export Template’ which remembers how the metadata is organized. RetroFolio will then ZIP up all ringtone files, along with their metadata (such as Artist, Title, MCPS TuneCode), into a single self-organizing archive. You can also selectively export all or any of RetroFolio’s fields, with or without the actual content files and audio previews.

    OMA DIGITAL RIGHTS MANAGEMENT

RetroFolio supports OMA forward locking as well as combined and seperate delivery for secure downloads to compatible handsets. You can easily set the ‘savable/non-savable’ parameter in file formats such as SMAF from right within the Web interface. As industry standards emerge Retro will keep up with them and add editing features within RetroFolio.
